I love Patti Smith's odd-bird sensibilities， and her enviable deep knowledge and appreciation for poetry， art， history， and music always inspires。 I devoured this collection of her Polaroid pictures plus assorted photographs， which are accompanied by narrative bits， then started all over again taking notes of people， places， and artifacts that I want to learn more about。I enjoyed Just Kids—loved the first half—but adored M Train， both books by Patti。 I'd recommend M Train before this collection I love Patti Smith's odd-bird sensibilities， and her enviable deep knowledge and appreciation for poetry， art， history， and music always inspires。 I devoured this collection of her Polaroid pictures plus assorted photographs， which are accompanied by narrative bits， then started all over again taking notes of people， places， and artifacts that I want to learn more about。I enjoyed Just Kids—loved the first half—but adored M Train， both books by Patti。 I'd recommend M Train before this collection as a gateway into Patti's vision; regardless， time spent pondering the world through Patti Smith's eyes is a thought-provoking joy。 。。。more

If you went to a museum curated by just one person， this is what you might expect。This is almost a coffee table book， but it’s Patti Smith’s polaroid-esque collection of memories and artifacts of everyday life that she has considered precious enough to photograph and write about。I’m calling it a memoir in images， and applying my non-rate of memoir policy 😉
